The Living Room
My friend Joe calls this place “the worst bar ever.” That may or may not be because he worked there for a short time. I can assure you it is NOT, in fact, its quite lovely. Not the kind of place you would wander in for a drink and stay, but the kind of place you might head to hear a particular artist or band. The back room is an intimate setting for a show, with small tables and candles and its own bar. Last night we heard Jim Campilongo play. Not a name you most likely recognize right away, but chances are, youve heard him play without even knowing it. Hes worked with Norah Jones, Cake, and everyone in between. Billboard Magazine calls him, “an American treasure,” and I would agree. His music is darkly romantic and his personality is so awkward, it makes awkward people feel awkward. I loved him best for this.
